Sioux Center, Iowa — A laptop was destroyed and a room was filled with smoke in an incident on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Dordt College in Sioux Center.
According to Sioux Center Fire Chief Dave Van Holland, just before 9 p.m., the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of smoke in the room at the Dordt College Science Hall.
The chief says the fire, which started in the laptop was out before the fire department arrived, but the room was full of smoke, so they used fans to ventilate the room.
Van Holland says no injuries were reported.
Chief Van Holland reports that the damage was limited to the laptop.
He says the 15-20 firefighters who responded were on scene for about a half hour.
