Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man was injured when the car he was driving struck a parked SUV Friday evening in Sheldon.
Sheldon police say 30-year-old Clint Petersen of Sheldon was westbound on West 7th Street in a 2007 Saab when he struck a legally parked 2008 GMC Acadia SUV owned by Brenda Cantera of Sheldon. According to the report, Petersen told police he was distracted by bright Christmas lights and failed to see Cantera’s SUV parked on the street.
Petersen was transported to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team with what the report describes as “minor” injuries.
Damage to Petersen’s Saab are estimated at $6500, with damage to Cantera’s GMC estimated at $6,000.
Authorities say they cited Petersen with Failure to Maintain Control.
