Ireton, Iowa — A garage and its contents were damaged in a fire on Saturday, January 15, 2022, near Ireton.
According to Ireton Fire Chief Richard Steckelberg, about 1:40 p.m., the Ireton Fire Department was called to the report of a garage fire at 4071 Dogwood Avenue, five miles north of Ireton and two west.
The chief says the fire department saw flames coming from a window and a door as they approached the scene. He says they used an exterior attack, then an interior attack to fight the fire.
Steckelberg says no injuries were reported.
The fire department was assisted by the Hawarden and Sioux Center, Iowa; and Hudson, South Dakota fire departments.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Chief Steckelberg reports that there was major damage.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about two hours.
