Fire Department Dispatched To Fuel Spill At Casey’s East

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Fire Company was called to Casey’s East in Sheldon Friday morning to the report of a fuel spill.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Brad Hindt, the department was dispatched abut 8:30 Friday morning after an unidentified vehicle drove off from the gas pump with the fuel nozzle still attached to the vehicle, pulling it from the pump and causing the spill.

Hindt says the amount of fuel spilled is undetermined. Firefighters used floor dry to soak up the spilled fuel and clean it off the store’s driveway.

Firefighters were on scene for about thirty minutes.

Sheldon Fire was assisted by Casey’s employees and the Sheldon Police Department.
