Alvord, Iowa — A tractor was destroyed in a fire on Monday, May 6, 2019, near Alvord.
According to Assistant Alvord Fire Chief Jason Bakker, about 10:40 a.m., the Alvord Fire Department was called to the report of a tractor on fire in a field near 2333 220th Street, a mile south, a mile and a half west, and a half mile south of Alvord.
The assistant chief says the fire department saw the tractor fully engulfed in flame as they approached the scene. He says they used foam to fight the fire.
Assistant Chief Bakker says no injuries were reported. He says the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but the tractor was totaled in the blaze.
He says about five firefighters responded and were on scene for about a half an hour.
