Rowena, South Dakota — Tuesday evening, during the worst of the snowstorm, there was a head-on collision near the Grand Falls Casino on the South Dakota side.
The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office says one of the drivers was over-driving the snowy and icy conditions about 6:20 p.m. and swerved into oncoming traffic.
Five people were injured.
All were taken to a Sioux Falls hospital. Unfortunately, due to South Dakota’s “Marsy’s Law,” we were not able to obtain the names or any of the details about the victims of the crash.
The accident happened on South Dakota Highway 42 near 485th Avenue. (Iowa Highway 9 turns into Highway 42 in South Dakota.) That’s about six-tenths of a mile northwest of the Grand Falls Casino entrance or about three-tenths of a mile over the state line.
