The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:10 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was driving a 1990 Ford F150 pickup northbound on Larch Avenue just north of the county line road — 270th Street — when they say the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway to the right and overturn in a field.

The Sheriff’s Office says the driver was transported to the hospital by friends and a private tow was arranged. The name of the driver was not released.

The vehicle is estimated to be a total loss due to extensive damage.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that Matlock First Responders, the George Fire Department, George Emergency Medical Service, the Lyon County Ambulance crew, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted them with the accident.
