George Man Faces Felony OWI Charge

Doon, Iowa — A George man has been arrested on a felony OWI charge after a single-vehicle accident near Doon earlier this month.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 39-year-old Trever Freeman of George is accused of driving under the influence for the third or subsequent time. He was arrested on Friday.

In his statement, the deputy says that on August 2nd, 2025, Freeman was involved in a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident and was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. He says Freeman had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. According to the deputy, Freeman admitted to being intoxicated. He failed one field sobriety test and refused any other standardized field sobriety tests. He did consent to blood withdrawal for testing, and the specimen results came back from the DCI Lab with a blood-alcohol content of 0.182% — more than two times over the limit of 0.08.

Freeman was charged with operating under the influence, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on September 11th.

Freeman was booked into the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids, and was released the same day after posting a $5000 bond.
