George Man’s Passenger Taken To Hospital After Pickup Strikes Light Pole

George, Iowa– A George man’s passenger was taken to the hospital after an accident near George on Friday evening, December 19, 2025.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 11:45 p.m., 23-year-old Dylan Winkel of George was driving a 2014 Ford pickup northbound on Kiwi Avenue, three miles south and two east of George.

The report says that Winkel lost control on a patch of ice on the road. His pickup entered the west ditch and struck a power pole.

George EMS (GEMS) took Winkel’s passenger, 22-year-old Olivia Winkel, to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Winkel’s Ford pickup sustained $10,000 in damages and was considered totaled. The power pole, owned by Alliant Energy, also sustained $10,000 in damages.

Winkel was charged with failure to maintain control and failure to maintain or use safety belts.
