Hawarden, Iowa — A Saturday night traffic stop has led to a pair of felony charges against a Hawarden teen.
According to court records, a Sioux County deputy pulled over a small SUV for a broken windshield. The deputy says he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle’s driver, 18-year-old Scott Maher of Hawarden.
During a search, deputies say they discovered two bags wrapped around the front of Maher’s person, which allegedly contained marijuana, THC edibles, THC vape cartridges, drug paraphernalia, and a ledger booklet containing prices.
Maher was placed under arrest and transported to the Sioux County Jail on charges of: Controlled Substance Violation (Possession with Intent to Deliver) and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, both Class D Felonies; as well as Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
