Hospers, Iowa – A Hawarden woman was taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a single-vehicle rollover accident Friday morning.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, at 8:36 Friday morning their deputies investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 400th Street, two miles west of Hospers.
According to authorities, 18-year-old Gilberto Lopez Barrios, of Hawarden, was driving a 2004 Honda CR-4 westbound on 400th Street when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the north ditch and rolled.
Deputies say a passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Angela Vasquez, of Hawarden, was transported by the Hospers Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of injuries suffered in the mishap.
The vehicle reportedly sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.
Lopez Barrios was cited for no drivers license.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Orange City Ambulance, Hospers Ambulance and Hospers Fire Department.
