Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Hawarden on Thursday morning.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 5:20 a.m., 22-year-old Tatiana Rodriguez of Hawarden was driving a 2004 Dodge Stratus eastbound on 440th Street, about a half mile east of Hawarden, when she drove onto the south shoulder, over-corrected to the left and lost control of the vehicle. It entered the north ditch, struck an embankment, and rolled.
The Hawarden Ambulance took Rodriguez to Hawarden Regional Healthcare.
The Dodge sustained approximately $7,500 in damage.
Rodriguez was cited on a charge of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
The sheriff’s office says the Hawarden Police Department, Hawarden Ambulance Squad, and the Hawarden Fire Department assisted with the response to the accident.
