Hospers Man Faces Felony Child Endangerment Charges After Alleged Assault

Hospers, Iowa — A Hospers man faces felony child endangerment charges after an alleged assault at his home in May.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us they arrested 31-year-old Julio Gaspar of Hospers on Friday.

Upon further investigation, deputies believe that Gaspar assaulted a 15-year-old family member, causing bodily injury. A criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s office by the county sheriff’s office alleges that Gaspar “lost control” and “brutally assaulted” the victim.

Gaspar was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, a class C felony. If convicted, Gaspar could face up to ten years in prison. He faces a preliminary hearing next Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s office tells us the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services assisted in the investigation.
