Hull, Iowa – A Hull teen was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital in the aftermath of a two-vehicle crash northwest of Hull early Friday afternoon.
Sioux County authorities say a 2000 Sterling straight truck, driven by 19-year-old Steven Brummel, of Hull was northbound on Harrison Avenue and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection with 310th Street. Deputies say Brummel’s truck collided in the intersection with a westbound 2007 Chevy Tahoe, driven by 17-year-old Carson Zandstra, also of Hull.
According to authorities, Zandstra and two passengers were transported by the Hull Ambulance to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley for treatment of their injuries, and Zandstra was later flown to Avera McKennan Hospital for further medical attention.
Brummel was reportedly cited for failing to obey a stop sign.
The Sterling sustained approximately $8,000 in damage. The Chevrolet sustained an estimated $13,000 in damage, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hull Fire Department, Hull Ambulance and Iowa State Patrol.
Deputies say the accident remains under investigation.
