Ireton Man Flown To Sioux Falls After Falling Out Of Window On Moving Bus

Hull, Iowa — An Ireton man was injured when he fell out of the window of a bus early on Saturday.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, at 1:14 a.m., 67-year-old James McDonald of Ocheydan was driving an “All 4 Fun” party bus eastbound on Highway 18 near 310th Street, about a mile north of Perkins Corner, when passengers alerted McDonald that a passenger on the bus, 21-year-old Levi Koopmans of Ireton had leaned against an unlatched window, fell through it and struck the roadway. The bus was reportedly traveling at approximately 50 MPH at the time of the accident.

The Hull Ambulance took Koopmans to Sioux Center Hospital. He was later flown to Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls for treatment of serious injuries.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Rock Valley Police Department, the Hull Ambulance Squad, and the Hull Fire Department assisted with the response to the accident.
