Ireton Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Ireton

Ireton, Iowa — An Ireton woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Ireton on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 9:50 a.m., 26-year-old Jordan Green of Sioux City was driving a 2019 Ford FedEx van westbound on 470th Street, at Dove Avenue on the southwest corner of Ireton. Fifty-eight-year-old Janice Reinking of Ireton was also westbound on 470th in a 2010 Toyota.

The report says that the FedEx van attempted to make a U-Turn at 470th and Dove Avenue. Reinking came up behind the FedEx van driven by Green. Reinking attempted to move over to the opposite lane to make a pass on the FedEx van. While Green was attempting the U-turn in the FedEx van, it was hit broadside by Reinking.

The Ireton Ambulance took Reinking to Hawarden Regional Hospital Hospital. Green did not report any injuries.

The vehicles received $10,000 in damage, each, which was enough to total both vehicles.

Green was charged with unsafe turn or failure to give signal.
