Jackson, Minnesota Man Faces Drug Trafficking Charge In Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — A Jackson, Minnesota man has been arrested on serious felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 42-year-old Kody Johnson of Jackson is accused of meth trafficking. He was arrested on Tuesday.

In his statement, the officer says Johnson was stopped on suspicion of driving without a license and an equipment violation. The officer says Johnson’s vehicle smelled of marijuana. The officer says Johnson told him that he may have some marijuana. His passenger allegedly had a bag with six grams of methamphetamine in her pants. The officer says she showed him a message that Johnson was selling the meth to her.

Johnson was charged with drug trafficking, a class B felony. If convicted, Johnson could face up to 25 years in prison. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and driving under the influence.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on August 26th.

At last report, Johnson remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of bond.
