Juvenile Faces Serious Felony Charge After Fire At Unity Christian

Orange City, Iowa — A juvenile faces a serious felony charge after a fire was discovered in an Orange City school.

According to the Orange City Police Department, last Thursday, April 24th, the Orange City Fire Department was paged to Unity Christian High School for a fire alarm, just before 1:45 p.m.

When Orange City Police Officers arrived, it was brought to their attention that someone had started paper towels on fire in a trash can in the bathroom.

After reviewing camera footage and conducting several interviews at the high school, the Orange City Police Department tells us they charged a juvenile with arson in the first degree, which is a class B felony. If tried as an adult and found guilty, the penalty for a class B felony is 25 years in prison.
