Lake Park Rescue Crew Performs Well Rescue

Lake Park, Iowa — Lake Park rescue crews were able to pull a man from a well that he had fallen into on Wednesday.

Lake Park Fire Chief Brandon Ehret says the victim fell through some boards into a 10-foot-diameter well on the west side of Lake Park. He says they found the victim floating in the water holding onto a piece of a ladder and some pipes.

He says there were a number of obstructions right above the well so rescue crews tied off to a tree growing next to the well. He says they were able to get their water rescue device that they use for ice water rescue around the victim. Then he says they lowered one of the responders down on a rope and got a rope attached to the victim.

Ehret says that they then used a roof ladder and pulled the victim out.

The fire chief tells us the victim was in the water for over an hour, and was completely exhausted. He was taken to Lakes Regional Hospital by ambulance.
