Sioux Center, Iowa — A Le Mars woman has been arrested on a warrant for a felony OWI charge after an April traffic stop near Sioux Center.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sioux Center Police Department, 49-year-old Mandy Horn of Le Mars is accused of driving under the influence for the third or subsequent time. She was arrested on the warrant on Sunday.
In his statement, the officer says he saw Horn driving in Sioux Center. He says that she veered onto the fog line, crossed into the oncoming lane when making a left turn, swerved in her own lane, and crossed over onto the line approximately five times. He says she also exhibited physical signs consistent with the use of a central nervous system stimulant and failed several tests. A urine sample was submitted to the DCI lab, which came back positive for controlled substances.
Horn was charged with operating under the influence, third or subsequent offense. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.
She faces a preliminary hearing on August 19th.
Horn was booked into the Sioux County Jail in Orange City, and was released on Tuesday after posting a $2000 bond.
