Larchwood, Iowa — A Lester woman was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital after an accident near Larchwood on Monday, December 13, 2021.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 1:00 p.m., 35-year-old Ashley Leuthold of Lester was driving a 2017 Chevy pickup eastbound on A18 or 140th Street, about seven miles west of Larchwood.
The report says that Leuthold crested the hill at the Grandview Church and lost control on the slush/snow on the roadway. The pickup left the roadway to the north, struck a snowbank, and entered the north ditch, rolling and coming to rest on its roof facing the roadway.
The Lyon County Ambulance took Leuthold to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Leuthold’s Chevy pickup sustained $8,000 in damages, which was enough to total the vehicle.
She was charged with operating with defective tires.
