Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Luverne, Minnesota man was taken to a hospital after an accident on Highway 75 in Rock Rapids.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Evan Meinerts of Luverne was southbound in a Buick Century. Jason Van Otterloo of Hull was northbound in a Ford F350 pickup.
According to the deputy writing the report, Meinerts failed to yield while turning left into a parking lot, and struck the Van Otterloo pickup.
Meinerts was transported to Avera Merill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids. His injuries were described as “minor.”
Both vehicles were towed due to damages.
Meinerts was charged with failure to yield while making a left turn.
The Lyon County Ambulance Squad, Rock Rapids Fire Department, and The Tow Co assisted with the response to the accident.
