Inwood, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man faces felony and misdemeanor drug-related charges following a traffic stop near Inwood Wednesday.
Lyon County authorities say the charges against 38-year old James Chatwell came about after a deputy made a routine traffic stop near Larchwood. During the stop, the deputy allegedly observed drug paraphernalia in Chatwell’s vehicle.
Deputies say K9 “Rizzo” alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle. A search warrant was executed later in the day, according to authorities, and during the search more drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine was allegedly located.
Authorities say that, as a result of the incident, Chatwell was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Violation, a Class D Felony, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor as well as traffic offenses including: Driving While Suspended; Failure to Have a Valid Insurance Card; and Speeding.
At last report, Chatwell was being held in the Lyon County Jail in lieu of a $54-hundred bond.
