Alton, Iowa — A Remsen man is jailed on a laundry list of felony and misdemeanor charges following his arrest on a warrant issued following an incident that happened in Alton late Tuesday morning (May 12th).
According to the Orange City Police Department, shortly before 11:00 Tuesday morning, they received a report of an assault at a residence in Alton. During the course of an investigation into the incident, police say they learned that 35-year-old Alfred James Nelson, of Remsen, had entered the residence and allegedly assaulted a male victim, with children present during the alleged assault, and had allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
According to authorities, a warrant was issued for Nelson’s arrest in connection with the incident. Police say Nelson was arrested on that warrant late Wednesday afternoon (May 13th), and charged with: 1st Degree Burglary, a Class B Felony; Assault While Participating In A Felony, a Class D Felony; Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor; and four counts of Child Endangerment, which are Aggravated Misdemeanors.
At last report, Nelson was being held in the Sioux County Jail, with bail set at $25,000.
