Man Taken To Sanford Sheldon After Accident In Front Of Demco In Boyden

Boyden, Iowa– A Charles City man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Boyden on Monday, October 13, 2025.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 4:50 p.m., 24-year-old Dalton Stover of Charles City was driving a 1998 Chrysler westbound on Highway 18, in front of Demco. They tell us that 26-year-old Juan Meza Huizar of Inwood was eastbound on 18 in a 2025 Kenworth semi, owned by Rock River Ag Transport of Inwood.

The report says that Stover was tired from a long day of travel. His passenger was asleep in the front seat, unsecured by a seat belt, according to the trooper’s report. Stover is thought to have crossed the centerline. Meza Huizar swerved to the right and onto the south shoulder. Stover struck the rear axles of the trailer being towed by Meza Huizar. The trooper says another tractor/trailer was traveling eastbound behind Meza Huizar, and that vehicle had a dash camera that was able to record the collision.

The Boyden Ambulance took Stover to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Meza Huizar reported no injuries.

Stover’s Chrysler sustained $3000 in damages and was considered totaled, and the semi sustained $40,000 in damages.

Both drivers face charges. Stover was charged with driving on the wrong side of a highway, no insurance, driving while license suspended – serious violation, and driving under suspension. Meza Huizar was charged with driving without a valid license and failing the English language proficiency test.
