Marcus, Iowa — A Marcus woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Marcus on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 2:20 p.m., 92-year-old Lois Krekow of Marcus was driving a 2017 Chrysler southbound on Highway 143, six miles north of Marcus near the O’Brien/Cherokee County Line. They report that 66-year-old Keith Brock of Webster City was northbound on 143 in a 1999 Kenworth semi.
The report says that visibility was significantly reduced due to blowing snow. They tell us that Krekow allegedly crossed the centerline and sideswiped the semi.
The Marcus Ambulance took Krekow to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospital.
Krekow’s Chrysler sustained $5000 in damages, and the semi sustained $10,000 in damages.
Krekow was charged with driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.
