Melvin — A Melvin man has been arrested on sex abuse and child endangerment charges.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 29-year-old Oscar Morales Gonzalez of Melvin is accused of sexually abusing an adult victim with children present. He was arrested on Thursday.
In his statement, the deputy alleges that Morales Gonzalez struck a child in the home with a broom handle and during the interview, the deputy says he learned of the assault with intent to commit sexual abuse against Morales Gonzalez’ girlfriend, allegedly while children were in the room. He says there was also alleged verbal and mental abuese.
Morales Gonzalez was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. If convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison. He also faces three misdemeanor counts of child endangerment.
Court records say he faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on June 19th.
At last report, Morales Gonzalez remained in the Osceola County Jail in Sibley in lieu of a $12,000 cash or surety bond.
