Everly, Iowa — A Milford woman is dead after the car she was driving struck a semi head-on west of Everly early Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, their dispatch center received a report of a reckless driver that was all over the road, west of Everly. A short time later, Dispatch received a report of a personal injury accident at the intersection of 100th Ave and Hwy 18.
When deputies arrived at the scene of the crash they discovered that a westbound Toyota Camry, driven by Lori Hott of Milford, had crossed the center line, striking head-on an eastbound 2019 Peterbilt semi pulling a grain trailer, driven by 35-year-old Eric Meighan of Ruthven.
Authorities say Hott was killed in the collision, while Meighan escaped injury.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Iowa State Patrol, O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Everly Fire and Rescue and Spencer Hospital Ambulance.
Deputies say the crash remains under investigation.
