Sheldon, Iowa — A New Ulm, Minnesota man faces a trio of felony and misdemeanor drug-related charges following a late Wednesday afternoon traffic stop near Sheldon.
Court records indicate that an Iowa State Trooper pulled over an SUV, driven by 21-year-old Jonathon Dale Hookom of New Ulm, for a routine traffic stop northeast of Sheldon around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
According to court records, while interacting with Hookom, the Trooper allegedly detected the faint odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Troopers say Hookom consented to a search of the vehicle, which, according to authorities, allegedly turned up about a pound of marijuana in several separate containers.
Hookom was placed under arrest for Failure To Affix A Drug Tax Stamp, which is a Class D Felony; A Controlled Substance Violation, which is also a Class D Felony; and 2nd Offense Possession of Marijuana, which is a Serious Misdemeanor. He was transported to the O’Brien County Jail, according to authorities.
Online court records indicate that Hookom is scheduled to appear January 7th in O’Brien County Magistrate Court on the charges.
