Nebraska Man Injured In Alton Accident

Alton, Iowa – A South Sioux City man was injured in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening (July 17th) on Highway 60, just south of Alton.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says around 6:45 Wednesday evening the Sioux County Communications Center received calls reporting that 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was being driven in an unsafe manner, northbound on Highway 60. Deputies say before they could locate and stop the Jeep its driver, who authorities identify as 31-year-old Orson Castillo, lost control of the SUV and struck a bridge.

Authorities say Castillo was transported to Orange City Area Health for treatment of minor injuries.

Deputies say they believe drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Damage to Castillo’s Jeep was estimated at $20,000.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Orange City Police Department, Alton Fire Department, Alton Ambulance and Orange City Ambulance.
