Ocheyedan Pair Unsuccessfully Attempt To Fool Deputy

Ocheyedan, Iowa — An attempt to pull the wool over a Clay County Deputy’s eyes was unsuccessful, and landed a pair of Ocheyedan residents in hot water.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, one of their deputies performed a traffic stop on a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup, west of Fostoria. Officials say the truck was being driven by 19-year-old Wesley Hanson of Ocheyedan. Before bringing the vehicle to a stop, deputies say Hanson switched seats with his passenger, 18-year-old Ashlie Hackney, also of Ocheyedan, in an attempt to deceive the deputy.

Authorities say Hanson and Hackney were both placed under arrest and transported to the Clay County Jail, and were charged with Harassment of a Public Official. Deputies say Hanson was also charged with Speeding and Driving While Suspended.
