Spirit Lake, Iowa — One person has died as the result of a car versus bicycle accident early on Wednesday.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about midnight, a 2000 Buick was southbound in the outside lane on Highway 71 south of 34th Street in Spirit Lake. The bicycle was also traveling south in the outside lane, ahead of the Buick. The Buick struck the car from behind.
Names are being withheld at this time pending notification.
The accident is still under investigation at this time, according to the State Patrol.
