Orange City Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident

Orange City, Iowa — An Orange City teen was taken to the hospital after an accident on Monday, April 10th, near Orange City.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, about 4:55 p.m., 35-year-old Tyler Kroese of Orange City, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a flatbed trailer southbound on Jackson Avenue, two miles north of Orange City. The report says he slowed to turn right onto a residential driveway, when 18-year-old Darian Heronemus of Orange City, driving a 1999 Toyota Avalon southbound on Jackson Avenue, swerved to avoid striking the vehicle behind Kroese, and lost control of his vehicle, which entered the west ditch and struck the flatbed trailer. After striking the trailer, Heronemus’ vehicle rolled.

The Orange City Ambulance took Heronemus to Orange City Area Health.

The damage to the trailer was estimated at $2,000. The Toyota sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.

The sheriff’s office says the Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance squad, and the Orange City Police Department assisted with the response to the accident.
