Hull, Iowa — An Orange City teen was taken to the hospital after a fiery collision near Hull on Thursday morning.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:55 a.m., 16-year-old Sydney Te Slaa of Orange City was driving a 2008 Buick Lucerne northbound on Indian Avenue, five miles southeast of Hull. They report that 31-year-old Gregory Lammers of Le Mars was driving a 2009 Peterbilt semi pulling a cattle trailer eastbound on 350th Street. The two struck in the intersection.
The report says that after the accident the truck and trailer entered the east ditch where it came to rest and started on fire. Members of the Hull Fire Department were able to extinguish the fire a short time later.
The Hull Ambulance Squaad took Te Slaa to the Sioux Center Health Hospital.
The Te Slaa Buick sustained about $8,000 in damage. The Lammers Peterbilt sustained about $50,000 damage, says the sheriff’s office.
Lammers was cited on a charge of failure to yield to a vehicle on the right.
They report that the Hull Fire Department and Hull Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the collision.
