Orange City Woman Taken To Hospital After Crash Near Sioux Center

Sioux Center, Iowa — An Orange City woman was taken to a hospital after a crash east of Sioux Center on Sunday, November 9th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us that about 4:05 p.m., 81-year-old Elaine Hofland of Orange City was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on 400th Street, or B40, one mile east of Sioux Center. They tell us that 43-year-old Samuel Morales-Chavez of Worthington, MN, was driving a 2015 Honda Accord eastbound on 400th. According to the sheriff’s office, Hofland lost control of her vehicle, which entered the eastbound lane, and the vehicles collided.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took Hofland to Orange City Area Health System.

The Chevrolet sustained about $10,000 in damage; the Honda received about $12,000 in damage.

The sheriff’s office tells us the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, and ambulance squads from both Sioux Center and Hull assisted them with the response to the crash.
