Alton, Iowa — A passenger in an SUV driven by a Kansas woman was taken to a hospital after the SUV struck a deer Saturday afternoon.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 3:25 p.m., 23-year-old Hope Lemos of Lawrence, Kansas was driving a 2018 GMC Terrain southbound on Highway 60 when she struck a deer on the roadway.
A passenger in the vehicle was transported by the Alton Ambulance to the Orange City Health System Hospital. The injuries were described as “minor.”
The GMC sustained about $5,000 in damage.
The sheriff’s office says the Alton Fire Department, Alton Ambulance Squad and the Orange City Police Department assisted them with the response to the accident.
