Pickup Destroyed In Hospers Fire

Hospers, Iowa — A fire destroyed a pickup in Hospers on Monday, August 19, 2024.

According to Hospers Fire Chief Jason Overmole, at about 11:30 a.m., the Hospers Fire Department was called to the report of a pickup on fire at Cenex in Hospers.

The chief says the fire department saw heavy fire from the engine compartment of the Ford F150 pickup as they approached the scene. He says the driver noticed smoke, so quickly moved the pickup about 50 feet from the gas pumps and canopy to prevent an explosion.

Overmole says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but started under the hood.

Chief Overmole reports that the pickup was a total loss.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 40 minutes, including cleanup.
