Primghar, Iowa — A Primghar man has been arrested on child endangerment charges after an incident near Primghar.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 37-year-old Tyler Techen of Primghar is accused of taking charge of three children, even though he is a registered sex offender. He was arrested on Friday.
In his statement, the deputy says Techen is a registered sex offender, but knowing that fact, he assumed control of three children by watching them with no other adult present in his home.
Techen was charged with three counts of child endangerment – registered sex offender, a class D felony. If convicted on all counts and ordered to serve the terms consecutively, Techen could face a maximum penalty of fifteen years in prison.
He faces a preliminary hearing on November 22nd.
Techen was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, and was released the next day after posting a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
