Remsen Woman Faces Felony Theft Charge, Accused Of Stealing From Her Employer

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Remsen woman has been arrested on a felony theft charge.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sioux Center Police, 24-year-old Essence Dinwoodie of Remsen is accused of stealing from her employer. She was arrested last week.

In his statement, the officer says that Advance Auto Parts’ loss prevention department investigated Dinwoodie for possible theft. The officer says that over a six-month period, Dinwoodie admitted to stealing over $12,400 from the company. The officer says that Dinwoodie admitted that she would “put false returns into the system on all cash returns.”

Dinwoodie was charged with first-degree theft, a class C felony. If convicted, she could face up to ten years in prison.

She faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on July 2nd.

After being arrested and booked into the Sioux County Jail in Orange City, Dinwoodie was released on the next day after posting a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
