Ocheyedan, Iowa — A riding lawnmower was destroyed in a fire on Friday, May 15, 2020, in Ocheyedan.
According to Ocheyedan Fire Chief Dan Hartwig, about 2:50 p.m., the Ocheyedan Fire Department was called to the report of a lawnmower on fire at 1175 Oak Street, on the south side of Ocheyedan.
The chief says the fire department saw that the lawnmower was fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used water with foam to cool the tires and fight the fire.
Hartwig says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined but an electrical issue is suspected.
Chief Hartwig reports that the lawnmower was totaled in the blaze.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 15 minutes.
