Larchwood, Iowa — A Rock Rapids 19-year-old was taken to a hospital after an accident near Larchwood on Saturday.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Abigail Gukeisen of Rock Rapids was driving a Ford Fusion westbound on Highway 9, when she misjudged the distance to the intersection and struck a 2013 Kenworth Truck and trailer operated by 30-year-old Michael Smalley of Pryor, Oklahoma.
The Lyon County Ambulance took Gukeisen to Sanford Sioux Falls. Her injuries were described as minor.
Gukeisen was cited on a charge of Failure to Obey a Yield Sign.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Larchwood Fire Department and EMS, Lyon County Ambulance, and Trackside Towing assisted with the response to the accident. They also say the dense fog was believed to be a contributing factor to the collision.
