Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids man has been arrested on a sex offender registry violation charge.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 33-year-old Kyle Wilkerson of Rock Rapids is accused of failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements. He was arrested on Friday.
In his statement, the deputy states that Wilkerson is required to appear in person to the sheriff within five business days of any change of employment, schooling, or residence. Wilkerson is also required to notify the sheriff of any change in relevant information. The deputy says Wilkerson lost his registered job on July 28, 2023, and failed to appear in person to register this change until Friday, August 25th. Wilkerson also failed to register his new job which was started on August 10th until August 25th. Wilkerson also failed to remove his old employer’s vehicles from his registry within five business days.
Wilkerson was charged with sex offender registration violation, a class D felony. If convicted, Wilkerson could face up to five years in prison.
He faces an initial appearance on September 19th.
