Rock Rapids, Iowa — Two men have been arrested in two separate sex-related cases in Lyon County.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that they arrested 26-year-old Nathan Hanson of Rock Rapids on Tuesday, February 2nd. They tell us the arrest stems from a sexual abuse investigation. A warrant was issued for Hanson on February 2nd and he was arrested without incident and was taken to the Lyon County Jail, where a $25,000 bond was set.
According to court records, Hanson faces six counts of Third Degree Sexual Abuse, a class C felony. The records allege he fondled a 13-year-old child multiple times. In addition, he is charged with Continuous Sex Abuse of a Child, which is a class B felony.
According to Iowa Code, if convicted of a class B felony, Hanson could face 25 years in prison.
In another case, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office also arrested 27-year-old Leonard Doiel of Doon. They tell us Doiel’s arrest came after the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Cherokee Police Department. Cherokee officers told them about an active arrest warrant they had for him, charging Doiel with violation of sex offender registration laws. Bond on the warrant was set at $5,000. A spokesperson for the Cherokee Police Department stated that Doiel is accused of staying with his mother in Cherokee for a few days without notifying authorities.
