Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Rock Rapids woman ended up in jail on a felony charge following a traffic stop earlier this week.
According to court documents, early Tuesday evening a Lyon County Deputy pulled over a car that allegedly failed to stop when turning onto Highway 9 from K52 in eastern Rock Rapids. Records indicate that the deputy ran a driver’s license check on the registered owner of the car, 32-year-old Elizabeth Olson, of Rock Rapids, and discovered her license was suspended.
Court records indicate that when the deputy approached the car he discovered that Olson was, in fact, the car’s driver, and was, according to the deputy, exhibiting “physical indicators of being impaired.”
Authorities say Olson performed only a few of the Standard Field Sobriety Tests, and refused a Preliminary Breath Test. At that time, she was placed under arrest for Driving on a Suspended License and transported to the Lyon County Jail.
Upon arriving, deputies say Olson was read the Implied Consent Warning and requested a urine sample, which Olson allegedly declined to provide.
She is reportedly charged with 3rd Offense Operating While Impaired (OWI), which is a Class D Felony, as well as Driving on a Suspended License.
According to online court records, a Preliminary Hearing in the case is scheduled for 1:45 pm on Tuesday, August 24th.
