Rock Valley, Larchwood Fire Departments Extinguish Thursday Fires

Rock Valley, Iowa– A electrical junction box was damaged in a fire on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in Rock Valley.

According to Rock Valley Fire Chief Brent Eshuis, at about 3:50 p.m., the Rock Valley Fire Department was called to the report of a house fire across from 1716 10th Street in Rock Valley.

The chief says when they arrived, the fire department found that it was actually an electrical junction box and nearby grass that was on fire NEXT to a mobile home.

Eshuis says they extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.

Chief Eshuis reports that damage was limited to the electrical box and nearby grass.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about a half hour.

Klondike, Iowa — Earlier that day, a house received minor damage in a fire at Klondike.

According to Larchwood Fire Chief Tony De Smet, at about 10:15 a.m., the Larchwood Fire Department was called to the report of a house fire at 1818 Ashley Avenue at Klondike, just on the Iowa side of the Big Sioux River about four miles west of the West Lyon School.

The chief says the fire department saw light smoke from the attic vent as they approached the scene. He says they vented the home and found smoldering insulation and an electrical fire at a junction box.

De Smet says no injuries were reported.

The Inwood Fire Department assisted at the scene.

He says the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature, and that there was minimal damage.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 45 minutes.
