Rock Valley Man Charged With Child Neglect, OWI

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man faces two felony charges and one misdemeanor after allegedly driving drunk with two small children in his car.

According to court records, a Rock Valley Police Officer pulled over a car for speeding at about 11:00 Saturday night in Rock Valley. The officer says while talking to the car’s driver, who authorities identify as 21-year-old Tony Martinez Perez, he noticed that Martinez Perez had blood shot, watery eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverage. The officer says he also noticed two small children, who Martinez Perez identified as his 4-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son in the back seat of the vehicle.

Court records indicate that Martinez Perez was put through a series of field sobriety tests, which officers say he failed, and was then placed under arrest for 1st Offense OWI, which is a Serious Misdemeanor. He was also reportedly charged with two counts of Neglect of A Dependent Person, which is a Class C Felony, for allegedly driving drunk with his children in the vehicle.

Martinez Perez was arrested and booked into the Sioux County Jail in lieu of a $10,500 bond. Online jail logs indicate that Martinez Perez was still in custody as of early Monday afternoon.
