Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Rock Valley on Sunday, April 9, 2023.
The Rock Valley Police Department reports that at about 2:00 p.m., 90-year-old Clayton Arend of Rock Valley was driving a 2004 Chevy westbound on Highway 18, near the events center and the City Park.
The report says that Arend lost control of the vehicle, which went off the roadway and struck a tree. It says Arend is suspected of having a medical issue that caused the accident.
The Rock Valley Ambulance took Arend to Hegg Health Center Hospital.
Arend’s Chevy sustained $10,000 in damages, which was enough to total the vehicle.
Arend was charged with failure to maintain control.
