Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley woman was taken to a hospital after an accident near Rock Valley on Thursday, June 1st.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly after 3:00 p.m., 70-year-old Mildred Hoekstra of Rock Valley was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on Highway 18, about two miles west of Rock Valley. They report that 23-year-old Brooke Busby of Rock Valley was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Highway 18.
According to the report, Hoekstra attempted to turn left onto Dove Avenue and struck Busby.
The Rock Valley Ambulance took Busby to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.
They report that the Hoekstra Chevrolet sustained about $11,000 in damage, and the Busby Chevrolet sustained about $15,000 in damage.
Hoekstra was cited on a charge of making an unsafe turn.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
