Dickinson County, Iowa — A Sanborn man was one of two people injured in a rear-end collision Monday night (August 1st) on Highway 86 in Dickinson County.
According to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened shortly after 5:00 pm Monday at the Cutty’s Resort entrance on Highway 86.
Deputies say their investigation determined that a 2009 Ford F350 pickup, driven by 74-year old Paul Dean Anema of Sanborn, was southbound on Highway 86, and had stopped in preparation to turn into Cutty’s. Authorities say Anema’s truck was rear-ended by a southbound 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, driven by 60-year old Jerry Joseph Rohwer of Milford.
According to deputies, both Anema and Rohwer were taken to Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake with, what the report calls, “possible non-incapacitating injuries”.
Deputies say portions of Highway 86 were closed for about an hour due to the crash.
Officers say Rohwer’s S-10 was totaled in the crash, and no damage estimate is available for Anema’s Ford.
Rohwer was ticketed for Failure To Maintain Control, according to deputies.
