Hull, Iowa — A school bus was involved in a crash on Tuesday, December 9th, near Hull.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash, which occurred on Highway 18, two miles east of Hull. They tell us 74-year-old Wesley Dykstra of Hull was driving a 2013 Blue Bird School Bus on Highway 18, and slowed, preparing to turn into a private driveway. They say 16-year-old August Goehring of Alton was driving a 2021 Buick Encore westbound behind the school bus. We’re told he lost control and struck the rear of the bus.
The school bus was carrying 12 students, and no injuries were reported.
The Buick sustained about $6,500 in damages. The school bus sustained about $750 in damages.
Goehring was cited on a charge of following too closely.
